This month two of our DCs have been undertaking outreach activities to high school students at two schools in Germany.
Martje Grensemann DC1 explains more:
“Last week, I visited my former high school, Gymnasium am Mühlenberg in Bad Schwartau, and gave a full-day presentation. I spoke about my academic journey, how I started my PhD, ORGESTRA, stem cells, our organoids and our tubuloids. Around 30 students attended, and they were very engaged—asking lots of questions about what it’s like to work as a scientist.
This week, Ann-Engelke (DC4) and I visited Kopernikus Gymnasium in Bargteheide. We spoke to the 11th-grade students for about 90 minutes, covering the similar topics as above. This time we had an audience of around 80 students, who were also very curious and asked many great questions”
